Materials Needed:

  • Green, red, and white square craft papers
  • Glue
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Googly eyes (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the Red Paper:

  1. Fold the red paper diagonally to form a triangle
  2. Fold the triangle in half again, creating smaller creases
  3. Use these creases as guides to cut out a semi-circle from the paper to shape it like a watermelon wedge

Stick on the White Paper Border:

  1. Place the round side of the red bookmark on the white paper and trace around its edge
  2. Cut a 1-inch thick strip from the white paper, following the curve of the bookmark
  3. Glue this white strip to the inner curved edge of the bookmark

Attach the Green Border:

  1. Now trace the rounded edge of the bookmark again, this time on the green paper
  2. Cut a thinner 1/2-inch strip from the green paper that will act as the outer border of the bookmark
  3. Glue this green strip over the white strip, mimicking the look of a watermelon rind

Draw the Seeds:

  1. Use a black marker to draw seeds all over the red part of your bookmark, turning the plain red circle into a juicy watermelon slice
  2. For an extra touch of fun, add googly eyes and a smiley face to your bookmark

This DIY watermelon bookmark is not only cute but also a great craft to try with kids or to make a set as a gift for a book-loving friend!

Materials Needed:

  • Red square craft paper
  • Green paper
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Ice cream sticks
  • Hot glue or double-sided tape
  • Scissors

Instructions:

Prepare the Paper:

  1. Cut a 1/2-inch thick strip of green paper. You’ll need two of these strips to stick along the edges of your square red craft paper
  2. Cut another set of 1/2-inch thick strips from the white paper

Assemble the Strips:

  1. Stick the green strips along the outer edges of the red paper
  2. Glue the white strips next to the green strips on the inside, ensuring there is no gap between the green and white paper
  3. Use the black marker to draw seed shapes scattered over the red area, turning the plain paper into a vibrant watermelon design.

Fold the Paper:

  1. Fold the decorated paper in half with the striped side facing outward
  2. Continue to fold the paper three more times until it forms a 1/2-inch thick strip. Press down at each fold to sharpen the creases

Create the Fan:

  1. Unfold the paper fully to reveal the creases
  2. Follow each crease as a guideline to make the folds for the fan (fold once inward and once outward)
  3. Once fully folded into a fan, fold the strip in half lengthwise

Attach the Handles:

  1. Apply hot glue or double-sided tape to both outer ends of the fan
  2. Attach an ice cream stick to each end. These serve as handles and help maintain the fan’s shape, allowing it to be opened or closed as desired

This watermelon paper fan is not only an easy DIY project but also serves as a charming and functional piece, perfect for hot summer days or as a festive decoration for parties

Materials Needed:

  • Red, green, and white soft clay
  • Permanent black marker
  • Eye pins
  • Jump rings
  • Ear wires
  • Clear nail polish

Instructions:

Shape the wedge: Start by rolling a small piece of red clay into a ball and then shape it into a watermelon wedge—a triangle with one rounded side.

Add the white clay: Roll a tiny amount of white clay into a thin log and attach it along the rounded edge of your red clay wedge. Leave a little space for the green clay.

Attach the green clay: Similarly, roll out a slightly thicker log of green clay and place it next to the white clay on the edge of the wedge, covering the remaining exposed edge.

Add seeds: Use a permanent marker to draw seed spots all over the red part of your clay wedge to mimic watermelon seeds.

Insert eye pins: Carefully insert eye pins along the length of each earring to attach jump rings later.

Attach jump rings and ear wires: Once the clay is dry, connect the jump rings to the loops of the eye pins, and then attach the ear wires to complete your earrings.

Seal and finish: After everything is assembled and fully dry, apply a coat of clear nail polish to the earrings. This gives them a glossy finish that enhances their appearance and provides some protection.

Watermelon Mason Jar

What You’ll Need:

  • Mason jar
  • Glass paint in red, green, and black
  • Cosmetic sponge
  • Alcohol (for cleaning the jar)

Instructions:

Clean the jar thoroughly with alcohol to remove any dirt or grease. This ensures the paint adheres well.

Paint the Jar:

  1. Start by using a cosmetic sponge to apply red glass paint around the jar, creating the base of the watermelon
  2. Allow the red paint to dry, then apply green paint at the bottom of the jar to mimic the rind of a watermelon
  3. You may want to apply two coats of each color to achieve a vibrant look

Drying:

  1. Once the base layers are dry, use black glass paint to add watermelon seeds. Dab small dots randomly around the red area
  2. Allow the paint to dry completely. Glass paint dries quickly, but ensure it’s fully set before handling
  3. For a glossy finish and extra protection, you can apply a clear sealant over the painted areas.

This decorative jar can serve as a vase, a candle holder, or simply as a cheerful summer decoration.
